Metlifecare Pohutukawa Landing Aged Care
About the Project
Aspec delivered the Pōhutukawa Landing Care Building, a two-storey dual care facility designed to support both general and dementia care within a modern, residential environment. The ground floor includes studio-style general care units, larger care rooms, dementia care suites, and a range of shared amenities including a commercial kitchen, café dining area, and multipurpose communal spaces. Level one provides additional care units along with staff areas and resident facilities such as a library and flexible activity spaces.
The project achieved a 6 Green Star sustainability rating, setting a benchmark for residential care facilities in New Zealand. Design and construction focused on high indoor environmental quality, superior air quality, optimised natural daylight, and energy-efficient systems to create a warmer, healthier living environment for residents while reducing environmental impact. Delivered on programme and within budget, Pōhutukawa Landing demonstrates Aspec’s expertise in large-scale, high-quality retirement and healthcare developments with strong sustainability outcomes.
